Yolibotanica just had two community events. I tried to call my local Congress mans office, homeboy hasn't voted on anything in a minute. I'm wondering if he's not in a home somewhere.
Good to hear about those community events, Adrian. And, yes, Grijalva has missed 97% of all votes, according to news reports. He needs to step down. He called on Biden to step down because of his age, so it would make sense for him to step down due to his health. We have too many important policies that are impacting working families to not have our congressman doing the necessary work needed to push back on this insane prez we got in the White House right now.
Daniel & Linda, very good points. Know Your Rights cards are super important right now. Linda, thank you for listing the organizations that provide them - and I love your self-deprecating "office donkey" reference. It captures the spirit of this podcast perfectly. Thanks for all you do, Linda and Danny!
Daniel has an excellent point. At PCIC, one of our members got an immigrant lawyer to draw up a “Know Your Rights” toolkit (pro bono) for us to use. It included wallet cards, flyers for the home, and a list of immigrant emergency contacts, among other things. We used it for Community Immigration Academies, which were usually held at immigrant churches and community centers. Msgr. Raul Trevizo (St John’s) was our long-haul #1 guy. The Diocese of Tucson helped us reach out and schedule academies also. Sacred Heart was another biggie.
As the office donkey, I put the bilingual packets together for distribution. Glad to do it again.

Do you have any “Know your right” flyers or cards?
